Creating Aging-Friendly Communities- Andrew Scharlach, professor of social welfare at the University of California, Berkeley, presents the latest thinking about the conceptualization and creation of age-friendly communities, and defines what they are, whom they are for, and how they can be created. Also included is a discussion about whether or not age-friendly communities are even desirable or possible. After examining the underlying conceptualizations of age-friendly communities, this web seminar explores the characteristics of “age-friendliness,” follows with a critical examination of approaches that help communities become more age-friendly, and closes by addressing the complexities and controversies involved in creating livable communities for people of all ages.
